Unacceptable Behaviour from Gorge Walkers

Ystradgynlais police contacted SWOAPG this evening to seek information about an incident that occurred on Friday 5 July between a group of teenage gorge-walkers (5 male, one female) and two carers trying to access Rose Cottage in Pontneddfechan (on the lane from Loonies’ to the village hall).  The group shouted abuse and made abusive gestures to the carers. CCTV footage of the incident has been passed to the police for investigation.

We are very well aware that most Providers go to great lengths to maintain good relations with local residents in Waterfalls Country – and will agree that this behaviour is completely unacceptable (and could easily lead to all providers losing access in this area, particularly since this is not the first time this has happened).

We would therefore appreciate all providers making an extra-special effort to brief their clients and supervise them closely in this area to avoid this sort of incident recurring – and passing the message on to other groups if necessary.

If any providers have information about Friday’s incident that might be useful to the police, please contact Maz (officer 8091) at Ystradgynlais Police Station.
