Usk Reservoir northern launch site closure, 7 April 2025 to August 2026

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has now advised us that the works at Usk Reservoir, which will see the northern launch site closed (as advised in our recent post Usk Reservoir works at ‘slipway’ launch – starting April 2025), will start on 7 April and last until August next year. This means there will be no launching from this site throughout the closure period. The southern launch site will remain open, but is currently accessible only to high-clearance vehicles (or those willing to carry craft some distance) – as advised last year (Usk Reservoir – Southern access point ‘open’ again for Passport holders) – although DCWW has told us that they will repair the eroded track as part of this project (but has not yet given a timescale for this). We appreciate that this will be a major inconvenience to those who use the reservoir. We will of course keep you updated as things develop. In the meantime, Beacons Reservoir and Pontsticill/Pentwyn Reservoirs remain open as usual. The formal notice from DCWW is attached below.
