Usk Reservoir works at ‘slipway’ launch – starting April 2025

We’ve just had confirmation from Dwr Cymru Welsh Water that they will be undertaking major works at the Usk Reservoir ‘slipway’ area (at the northeast corner by the dam), starting in April and lasting several months. This means that there will be no paddle-craft launching at this site during that period. The alternative launch site on the southern bank will remain open – although restricted by the damaged access road (which we have asked them to consider repairing; currently only really accessible by 4x4s) and the locked gate (for which we have the code!). However, to reduce the potential for conflict with anglers, DCWW have suggested that providers should consider using Beacons Reservoir as an alternative venue.
