REMINDER: Hazard to paddlers on Upper Usk: fish trap in operation during March to May

Re our earlier message (repeated in full below), the fish trap is now in operation at Abercamlais on the River Usk.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE (posted 30 Jan):

Natural Resources Wales has advised us that they will be operating fish traps on the Upper Usk (at Abercamlais on the Sennybridge-Aberbran section) during the period March-May 2021. Although we anticipate few paddlers using the rivers during this period, anyone contemplating a trip on either river section needs to be aware of this hazard: the traps will have cables extending across the entire river and therefore pose a significant danger to paddlers, who will need to portage around the devices (which will be manned while in operation). Warning notices will be posted and we have been advised that there are suitable portage points above and below the traps. The picture shows a similar trap in operation on the Dee. Full details are in the attached document.
