REMINDER for Dinas/Sychryd users: access restrictions on hill-top route START 13 July

NB further to our earlier message (repeated below), NRW has also also now advised us that they’ll be cordoning off a small area of Dinas car park (maximum of two bays) to accommodate contractors carrying out path works starting on 13th July. The works are expected to take around 3 to 4 weeks to complete.

NRW has advised us that “trail improvement works will be undertaken on the first section of the Sgwd yr Eira trail from Craig y Dinas/Dinas Rock Carpark [i.e. the route between the car park and the upper waterfall pool – and Loonies’ Leap via the hillfort], commencing on Monday 13th July 2026 for a period of four weeks. The path will be closed to the general public during this time. Gorge walking groups wishing to access this section of the trail must first obtain permission from the contractor working on the path before proceeding into the work area. The attached map shows the work area highlighted in turquoise ( OS Grid Ref: SN 9124 0799 to OS Grid Ref: SN 9135 0804).”
