Another important message for Waterfall Country gorge users (Sychryd & Mellte)

Things have been very busy again in Waterfall Country so far this season, with the Dinas Rock car park being particularly busy since the opening of the new pay-and-display parking opposite the Angel, which has only increased the pressure on the ‘free’ parking at Dinas Rock and within Pontneddfechan village (and which is, of course, available for Providers to use when the Dinas car park is full). We appreciate that this is making things more difficult for Providers, but it is also making things harder for the residents, who have raised complaints with us recently about Provider behaviour and parking (as referenced in our recent messages). The closure of the hilltop path (to the public) and contractors’ use of parking spaces could of course make things either better or worse over the next few weeks…

It is therefore more important than ever that Providers behave in exemplary manner and stick to the rules (which are all accessible at Gorge Walking – South Wales Outdoor Activity Providers Group) – particularly around parking and changing – as well as making extra efforts to clear up after themselves and others (especially at the end of the day).

NRW staff will be conducting spot-checks over the next few weeks and have advised us that unregistered Providers will be asked to leave – so please make sure you are displaying your ID cards in your vehicles and on your leaders’ persons.

Thank you!
