Loonies’ Leap Update – main jump now accessible

We have received the following message from BBNPA. Gorge users may therefore now – subject to conducting their own risk assessment – resume use of the main jump on river-right at Loonies’ Leap on the Mellte, but should stay clear of the weir / dam on river left which remains out-of-bounds (exiting the river only using the diagonal path on river-right just upstream of the bridge).

“Our engineers were only tasked to survey the weir [i.e. the ‘dam’ on river-left] so can only comment on the issues with that structure. In their report they have highlighted structural weaknesses of the weir that may not be apparent to users. They did not look at the stone pillar on river right [i.e. the main jumping point].”
