“A tree has been down (still attached by roots) and hanging in the river, in the flow of a rapid for a good few months now, from the left bank just below Hay Bridge. Now the water is low it is proving even more of a hazard because there’s not enough flow for a novice paddler to confidently take the right hand channel, so despite a thorough briefing some are forgetting/ignoring instruction and taking the left hand channel and getting pulled into the tree/rapid. We have had three isolated capsize incidents in two weeks.”
The Environment Agency (the navigation authority below Hay) has been informed and asked to take action, but in the meantime please take care on this stretch…
