We have received the following from Powys County Council, which may be of interest to some SWOAPG Members – no doubt other Local Authorities might also have similar schemes in place:
“We have great news!
“The Welsh Government have just confirmed that there is funding available throughout the summer to support children’s play and the impact that the Covid pandemic may have had on play activities, young people and their development and the communities where they play.
‘The Summer of Fun’ can support Play, Sporting and Cultural Activities for Children & Young People
“So that we are able to offer a wide range of activities throughout Powys over the summer period (1st July – 30th September 2021) we would love to hear from you if…
- you are already providing activities during this period
- you would like / are able to offer more activities during this period
- if you have ideas about activities you might be able to offer during this period
- if you know of a service or organisation that would be interested in offering activities
“Guidance (which is subject to slight change) is attached for your information. If you have any queries please contact Nia Wilson, Childcare Business and Development Officer childcareoffer@powys.gov.uk
“As there is a very short timescale to plan, advertise and communicate these activities, please could you respond to us by completing the Expression of Interest form attached by Wednesday 23rd June by 12pm. At this stage, we only need an idea of activities, hours, location, age groups catered for and an approximate amount of funding that would help support the activities that you have planned.
“Funding will be allocated depending on numbers of responses received.
“We look forward to hearing from you and please share / circulate this email as appropriate.”
