NRW has informed us of some upcoming forestry works which are due to take place in Gwaun Hepste Forest block.
The work is due to begin in the next few days. The map attached shows the areas which are to be worked, shown in red. It is just South of the Gwaun Hepste car park and borders a section of the Four Falls trail. The green dotted lines on the map show other Public Rights of Way.
The contractors will begin on the Northern most section of the coupe and will work their way South, away from the Four Falls trail. The work is likely to last around 6-8 weeks and disruption to any of the trails will be kept to a minimum. There will be no work of any kind taking place on the weekends or public holidays. All trails will be kept open and accessible throughout the course of the contract. These will be managed with banksman when felling within 2 trees lengths of any of the trails and the forest road.
It is imperative that all members of the public obey instruction from the signage and contractors/banksman, when walking within the work area, and stick to the designated trails.
