Representing providers of Outdoor Adventurous Activities in South Wales and the Brecon Beacons
SWOAPG_admin We’ve organised the following training event primarily so that SWOAPG Members who use a range of outdoor venues (including the Sychryd gorge) can contribute to reducing the spread of invasive species, so we’d be grateful if all Providers could consider sending at least one representative activity leader along to find out how they can help. … Read more
Just a reminder that… …new ‘dark red’ gorge ID cards for 2023 have now been sent to all Members who have completed the necessary requirements. If you haven’t yet received yours, it could be because they’re in the post (only two that we’re aware of!) or you may still need to address one or more … Read more
We have received the following message from Dwr Cymru Welsh Water. Although they say they “do not envisage any problems with any increased flooding risk downstream”, the last time they did this the water level did reach the top of the ledge at the Porth yr Ogof main entrance (although it quickly subsided), so it … Read more
Thanks to staff from Black Mountain Activities for the following update and pictures – be careful out there! “Could you please pass on to members a potential hazard on the ‘cascades’ (see attached photos). However, if Providers see any indication of fresh rock fall in the main entrance area, please make the on-site staff … Read more
We have been advised by Black Mountain Activities of a loose rock at the ‘exposed step’ on the path hat traverses above the ‘Ivy Pool’ in the Sychryd Gorge – which will collapse if weight or force is applied, increasing the ‘confident step’ that clients will have to make to pass it.
