Recent rockfall incidents on Llangattock Escarpment

We have been advised by one of our members of two recent rockfall incidents whilst climbing on the Llangattock Escarpment (although we understand that loose rock may indeed be a common occurrence in this area…):

  • The first was at Rhiw Pant 29th June – Left hand side. A student dislodged a rock with narrowly missed the belayers. Rock size approx 15cm.
  • The second at Craig-Y-Castell on 5th July – Instructors doing staff training. Whilst on a top rope attempting a hard climb the instructor fell and as the rope tightened it dislodged a rock which grazed him on the face. Rock size approx 20cm.

Take care out there!
