We have been advised by one of our members of two recent rockfall incidents whilst climbing on the Llangattock Escarpment (although we understand that loose rock may indeed be a common occurrence in this area…):
- The first was at Rhiw Pant 29th June – Left hand side. A student dislodged a rock with narrowly missed the belayers. Rock size approx 15cm.
- The second at Craig-Y-Castell on 5th July – Instructors doing staff training. Whilst on a top rope attempting a hard climb the instructor fell and as the rope tightened it dislodged a rock which grazed him on the face. Rock size approx 20cm.
Take care out there!
