URGENT Opportunity for SWOAPG Members to Quote for the Supply of Suitably Qualified, “Meet Greet and Stay Safe Staff”, to the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority

We have received the following notice from Brecon Beacons National Park, which is likely to be of interest to some SWOAPG Members.

NB: “We need this to happen quickly!! So if you are interested please email lisa.lloyd@beacons-npa.gov.uk for further details by Wednesday 5 August, with completed bids back by Thursday 13 August.”

“Due to the tremendous upswing of visitors to the Brecon Beacons National Park following the lifting of the Covid 19 restrictions, the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority is looking to contract in “Meet, Greet and Stay Safe” staff who will be based at various locations around the National Park, but principally in the Ystradfellte/Pontneddfechan area, Libanus National Park Visitor Centre, and Llyn y Fan.  The job of the “Meet, Greet and Stay Safe” staff will be to help, advise and provide information to visitors in our main hubs, and to reinforce Covid 19 safety messages and to work alongside our permanent teams during these very busy times.

“It is recognised that the local outdoor activity providers’ scope for working with outdoor groups during this year has been severely curtailed, and that there is a synergy between the skills of outdoor activity providers and the visitor management role currently under severe pressure due to visitor numbers.  We think this provides a mutually beneficial opportunity.

“Our successful partner must be able to demonstrate a track record of providing high quality outdoor based staff.  The Meet, Greet and Stay Safe staff that you supply will be personable and enjoy meeting the public, be active, enjoy being in the outdoors, with an enthusiasm for the natural environment of the National Park and able to communicate that enthusiasm to others, they should have a good knowledge of safety in the countryside, group management, and hold outdoor first aid, HML, ML(summer) or similar.  They must be willing to do some of the clearing up, litter picking and troubleshooting day to day problems in the outdoors (although they will have full backup from our experienced teams).  The provider organisation must be a member of SWOAPG, 2019-20 and 2020-21.

“In addition to the meet and greet duties there will also be some practical days for the staff working with Warden Team on path maintenance, and upland conservation work.  Again these duties will be carried out alongside experienced members of staff.”
