New hazard in Sychryd Gorge

Thanks to Black Mountain Activities for alerting us to the following new hazard in the Sychryd gorge ‘cascades’ which has arisen over the winter. Please take extra care and review your risk assessments for this area as appropriate…

“A lot of movement has occurred during lockdown, winter and high water! Please could we make all organisations aware of a lethal hazard on the cascades section of the gorge. At the large slab of rock three-quarters of the way up the ‘cascades’ on river left, there has been a rock fall from the slab spreading debris above the existing tree fall/timber in the middle of this section. Large boulders/elements of the slab are in situ but seem to be very unstable. River right is clear.”

NB we have also been informed separately that the stonework of Loonies’ Leap is looking more and more unstable, so please do take care out there…
