We’re sure that most of our Members will by now have seen the latest news about the canal – that CRT has agreed short-term to fund water top-ups following NRW restrictions on abstraction from the Usk which threatened the canal’s imminent closure (see Emergency water supply for at-risk Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal – BBC News). However, there is still no long-term solution in place, although lots of discussion is taking place by all the right people! SWOAPG Members and subscribers might therefore wish (if you haven’t already) to sign the petition calling for a Senedd debate and action by the Welsh Government: the more signatures it gets, the more likely that debate might result in action…
