Due to new landslips on the left bank of the Mellte downstream of Loonies’ Leap, the path on river-left below the metal footbridge is now closed for the foreseeable future. Because we still don’t have access for gorge-walking groups along the track on river-right between the metal bridge and Pontneddfechan Village Hall, this means that even when the track between the two footbridges is re-instated (hopefully later this year), GORGE-WALKING GROUPS WILL NEED TO CONTINUE TO RETURN OVER THE HILLSIDE FROM LOONIES’ LEAP TO DINAS ROCK. We had hoped that groups might be permitted to return along the river, but the NRW weir is strictly out-of-bounds and with the recent landslip there is no way to portage around it – so for now at least there is no other option open to us. Sorry for this disappointing news…
