ATTENTION ALL WALES-BASED ACTIVITY BUSINESSES: Your Input Needed NOW in New Survey to Measure Economic and Social Value of Adventure in Wales

Please read on to find out how you can help as a Welsh-based activity business both by completing a survey yourself AND by asking some of your clients to complete a survey (with a chance to win a £100 voucher!). Thanks!

The adventure sector in Wales was last valued at £480 million pounds & provided more than 8200 full time jobs – but that was 8 years ago, and the survey didn’t take any account of the social value of adventure activities across Wales.

So today we are launching a new survey to get this much needed update – and we need your help.

We know the adventure sector is extremely important not just for business & employment in Wales, but also for connection to nature, exercise and mental health, wellbeing and so much more…

So how can we ensure that the adventure activity sector gets the support it truly deserves at the highest possible level?

Well, we believe the numbers from this new survey will really help.

There are two surveys – the first is a survey for those of you that offer adventure activities in Wales, (business survey) and the second is a survey to forward out to those who have been on adventures in Wales (participant survey). Here are the links to both:

Business Survey:

Participant / Visitor Survey:

We would be hugely grateful if you could complete the short business survey & also forward the link to the participant survey out to people that have been on adventure activities with you.

To tempt your previous clients to fill it in, there is a £100 voucher to be won to be spent with one of you (members of the Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter Group / South Wales Outdoor Activity Providers Group or Snowdonia Active) on future adventures or equipment. (See below for a draft email template that you could copy / paste to send out to previous clients of yours.)

This is a great opportunity prior to the proposed Outdoor Education Bill to get an update on not only the economic value of the adventure sector, but also to take account of the huge social value that adventure activities provide.

This project is funded by Welsh Government’s Coastal Capacity Building Challenge Fund, administered by WCVA.

Thanks so much for your help with this.

Here is an email that you could use to contact previous clients:

Example email:

Dear ….

Thanks for coming out adventuring with us in Wales in the past – we hope very much to see you here again this year.

If you are lucky, you could even get your adventure paid for!

We are helping to measure the economic and social value of adventure across the whole of Wales, and you can help by filling in this survey for the chance to win £100 voucher to go on an adventure or purchase adventure equipment in Wales.
