NB we’re hoping to get in again next Mon (25th), if you’d be interested in helping next time (if we don’t already have you on the list!) please drop an e-mail to coordinator@swoapg.com.
A team of around 20 cavers from a wide range of providers descended on Porth yr Ogof today to support volunteers and staff from Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority in removing some of the timber debris from inside the cave entrance. We were able to make a massive dent in the ‘dam’, to the extent that the river is now flowing where it used to (to the right-hand side) and only the largest trees remain to be moved. We’re hoping to get back in there soon, this time supported by a chainsaw gang, to get the rest out before the next floods create a new dam! Many thanks to all those involved.
Great effort from everyone, many thanks for your help.
Jon
