Pontneddfechan / Loonies’ Leap Access Update

Access Track

We are aware that an additional gate has recently been erected on the track from Pontneddfechan to the Gunpowder Works / Loonies’ Leap. The gate is on the track by the weir, just before the metal bridge (on the boundary between private and BBNPA land). It’s not closed at the moment BUT if this does happen, providers are reminded that they should return from Loonies’ Leap to Dinas Rock by returning along the footpath over the hill, NOT by using the path on the left bank of the river or in the river-bed itself.

Tree Felling

A BBNPA contractor will be felling trees in Waterfalls Country from the end of July until October. The first area they will be working on is behind the new Corning House (opposite Loonies’ Leap). They will be dropping trees in that area so may have to close off access for 2-3 weeks in August. However, they may be able to negotiate access with groups and we’ll provide further advice in due course.

Corning House is not a Toilet!

A few members of the public have reported that some young children on organised groups are using the new Corning House building (opposite Loonies’ Leap) as a toilet. Although this may be convenient as it is screened from view, the building is also explored by the public – so please could all providers discourage their clients from toileting here!
