Please below a message from the AdventureUK Board regarding the work they have been doing to create an alternative accreditation scheme to AALA and a request to complete an online survey:
We realise that many of us are currently very focussed on recovery from the pandemic and for many these are still difficult times. However, looking to the future we are asking if you can spare a few minutes to help us form, what we hope, will be a positive change for us all.
By way of an introduction, we are Adventure UK a body formed following the consultation held by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in 2017, on the non-statutory replacement of the Adventurous Activity Licensing Authority (AALA). Over the last few years Adventure UK has been developing a proposal for a sector-led scheme (see below) as an alternative to the current AALA. We are all volunteers who are representative of the UK outdoor sector – to find out more about the members and our story so far see here
Our timeline is to have an alternative scheme ready by March 2023 but your help is needed now to gauge the likely scale of the take up of this new sector-led scheme should AALA be withdrawn.
We would also value your feedback on the draft scheme.
We realise many of you will be really busy so we’ve tried to keep the feedback process simple whilst also providing the option for people to see the detail behind the proposal so far. It would be really helpful if you could respond by 31st October when we’ll close the survey.
We would be very grateful if you could either follow the survey link and/or website links below or go to adventureuk.org.uk, click on ‘consultation on new voluntary scheme’ and then on the hyperlinks in the more information section to find out more and complete the survey.
Thank you in advance for your time.
