Porth yr Ogof timber clearance – great work but still more to do!

Many thanks to the great team that turned up today to help clear timber from Porth yr Ogof. With two BBNPA wardens wielding chainsaws and a chain of BBNPA volunteers outside the cave, we were able to shift much of the debris (see pictures). However, there are still a lot of large logs (too big to shift today) inside the main entrance and we’re hoping to get the chainsaw gang back in again soon to cut these down into manageable chunks. We’ll be putting out another call for cavers to come and help shift them as soon as we have a date – hopefully before they get washed-in by the next flood, when they’d be likely to jam up in the Great Bedding Cave or beyond (which would be a great shame after all the work that we’ve managed so far). Watch this space!!
