Porth yr Ogof Cave Main Entrance DUE TO RE-OPEN

Further to our earlier message, the National Park Authority has now reported that:

“The cliff face inspection has shown no noticeable extra movement in the rocks above the path into the cave, and we are now comfortable that the recent weather has not changed the dynamics of the cliff face.  We have however, identified a tree at the base of the climb down, just above the style, that has shed a number of large limbs, some of which have caught in the canopy of the tree.  We feel that this causes a risk to anyone walking below.  We have planned for our wardens to make safe this tree on Tuesday 9th January, and until then we will keep the pathway closed.
“As long as the planned works is successful, we hope to reopen the cave entrance on Wednesday 10th January.
“I would thank you for your patience and understanding as we seek to ensure the safety of users of the cave.”
