An invitation from the Outdoor Industries Association:

“As we move further towards a relaxation of the lockdown restrictions and hopeful news of a re-opening of the outdoors, please see below and attached for news of the OIA’s online workshop on the 11th March.” While this may be focused on England, it is likely to be of relevance to outdoor providers in Wales.

GETTING ACTIVE OUTDOORS AGAIN SAFELY!  Join the OIA’s Online Workshop on 11th March 2021

To coincide with the launch of a new research report by the OIA, ‘GET OUTSIDE! Activity in a time of COVID-19’ (available here), the OIA is running an online workshop at 1pm on the 11th March (register here) to discuss the findings of the Sport England funded report and how it can be used to support planning for the responsible, safe and sustainable re-opening of the outdoors as COVID restrictions are relaxed.  The online workshop is aimed at any relevant businesses which operates in the outdoor sector including campsite owners / operators, activity providers, outdoor leaders and residential outdoor centres,

To conduct and complete this valuable research, The OIA was supported by Sport England with National lottery funding to produce insights into the impact of COVID-19 and consumer behaviour in the camping market.  Working with experts in the field and supported by Ordnance Survey and campsites around the UK, the comprehensive full report and executive summary can be downloaded here.

The recently completed project focussed on last summers’ campsite experiences, ‘what works and what doesn’t’, will be presented by the project team, with additional input and ideas about how to re-open the outdoors safely discussed and debated by representatives from Visit Britain, The Lake District National Park Authority and many other closely associated outdoor organisations.

The online workshops will be coordinated by the architect of the report – outdoor consultant and mountain guide, Martin Chester together with the OIA’s CEO, Andrew Denton.
