Positif Adventure are looking to employ a full time Adventurous Activities instructor to join our team.

We work with YP`s in full time care based in Ebbw Vale. The activities are delivered as part of the YP`s alternative education. Using the outdoors to help to develop the YP`s skills, such as teamwork, leadership, communication, managing feelings etc. A typical day would be arriving at our activity Centre in Llanhilleth for 0830 where we would prepare all the activity kit for the day. You would then travel to the venue and deliver either a full day or two half day sessions. We work 1:1 with the YP`s who would be accompanied by 2 care staff (sometimes up to 4 care staff to 1 YP depending on behaviors and needs) that would also take part in activity. After activities have finished, you would then return to stores to put kit away and write a bit of educational feedback for the YP on that day. We would usually then finish for around 1630, the working week is Monday to Friday with the occasional bit of weekend work. We work all over South Wales and the Brecon Beacons; the activity plan is flexible, and I would be happy to use other venues provided we have relevant risk assessments and permission to be there.

This is a full-time job on PAYE with all the benefits included such as annual leave and sick pay. The rate of pay would be £120 per day or £31.200 PA if on a 5 day a week contract. We have work through the whole year and will also help to pay and train towards any other NGB qualifications you may want.

The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years’ experience working with youth groups and hold at least 2 NGB awards (RCI, ML, LCML, Kayak Leader Awards etc.). You should also be familiar with venues in and around South Wales and be able to lead gorge walking.
