DESCRIPTION:The British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor qualification is for people aged 14+ whose main focus of work is delivering paddlesport taster/starter sessions within clubs\, centres or other organisations. The qualification is not discipline specific and is suitable for instructors who work with paddlers from any of the competitive and non-competitive paddlesport disciplines. \n\n\n\nThe process of completing the qualification aims to help prepare candidates for their first paddlesport instructing role; ‘primed and ready’. \n\n\n\nVenue: Brecon area \n\n\n\nCost £200 per person (non-residential). \n\n\n\nCandidates need to: \n\n\n\n\nbe aged 14 or over;\n\n\n\nbe members of Canoe Wales / British Canoeing (etc.);\n\n\n\nregister for the Award with Canoe Wales / British Canoeing (etc.) – cost £46.80;\n\n\n\nhave attended a British Canoeing Awarding Body Paddlesport Safety & Rescue or Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT) course; and\n\n\n\nhave personal paddling (equivalent to the former 2*-level) and rescue competence in one type of craft (kayak\, open canoe\, sit on top\, or stand up paddleboard).

We’ve secured the support of several Cave Instructors as well as Alan Bowring of BBNPA and we will be offering three separate sessions (10am-1pm\, 2-5pm and 6-9pm) with the following topics covered in each session (subject to sufficient demand): \n\n\n\n\nCave familiarisation (for those who may not know it well);\n\n\n\nExplore lesser-known parts of the cave (for those who do!);\n\n\n\nCave geology;\n\n\n\nAvoiding and/or using the water;\n\n\n\nUsing the avens (familiarisation for ‘Level 1’ and – for those of you with ‘vertical’ aptitude & equipment – ‘Level 2’ ropework)\n\n\n\n\nThe workshop will be open to staff employed by SWOAPG Members (initially limited to 3 per business/organisation\, depending on capacity and demand); freelancers need to be Associate Members at least. \nPrice £20 for one session\, £35 for 2 sessions\, £45 for 3 sessions. \nBook ‘tickets’ using the buttons below AND please complete this Session Preference Form (apologies for the 2-stage process) – or e-mail coordinator@swoapg.com if the tickets don’t seem to offer what you want!
