The course will help you plan and deliver safe\, enjoyable\, progressive coaching sessions and you’ll explore specifics to help you coach some typical learners relevant to these craft in this environment. \nWhile there remain restrictions on indoor gatherings\, most courses will include video-conference sessions to cover ‘classroom’ topics. These will usually be a few days before and/or after the main ‘practical’ (outdoor) sessions\, arranged to suit participants on each course. The qualification is not discipline specific and is suitable for instructors who work with paddlers from any of the competitive and non-competitive paddlesport disciplines. \nThe process of completing the qualification aims to help prepare candidates for their first paddlesport instructing role; ‘primed and ready’. \nWhile there remain restrictions on indoor gatherings\, most courses will include video-conference sessions to cover ‘classroom’ topics. These will usually be a few days before and/or after the main ‘practical’ (outdoor) sessions\, arranged to suit participants on each course. DESCRIPTION:This RLSS National Water Safety Management Programme (NWSMP) Award is predominantly aimed at those working in\, or close to\, water in outdoor environments and is particularly suitable for Outdoor Instructors and Assistants. \nThere are three levels to the award: \nLevel 1 – Water Safety Awareness \nLevel 2 – Beach\, River\, Still Water \nLevel 3 – In Water Rescue \nThe programme starts with Level 1\, the Water Safety Awareness Module\, which provides the theoretical platform for more advanced modules. Environment Specific Modules cover hazards associated with beach\, river and still water as well as basic rescue techniques. The In-Water Rescue Module covers essential in-water rescue knowledge and tests competence. \nEndorsed by the Health and Safety Executive for its sensible\, proportionate\, reasonable and balanced advice to both those responsible for groups around the water margin or workers operating in\, on or near water and in particular\, managing the risk from operating around the water margin. DESCRIPTION:***Postponed due to Covid-19 Lock-downs*** \n!! NB this workshop will now take place 6-9pm (not 9.30am-1pm as previously advertised) !! \nThis is a Practical Workshop\, based at Porth yr Ogof\, providing an opportunity for Providers and Instructors to explore experiences\, lessons and ‘good practice’ relating to caving and Covid-19. \nWith some Providers and Instructors having re-commenced activities since lockdown – and others still planning how best to do so – SWOAPG is keen to provide opportunities for you to share your experiences and help to develop and promote ‘good practice’ for operating in the new and unfamiliar environment of social distancing etc. We are therefore organising a series of workshops for this purpose. \nThe workshop will be hosted for SWOAPG by Steffan Davies of Hawk Adventures: his role will be to oversee safety and facilitate sharing between participants\, rather than to deliver training or tell anyone how to do things\, although he’ll obviously bring ideas to the table too! \nParticipants will need to bring all the personal equipment they need for an evening in the cave (cave suit\, helmet\, lamp\, wellies; change of clothes\, drinks / snacks\, hand sanitiser etc.). \nMeet at 6pm at Cwm Porth car park. \nParticipants will be asked to complete a Hawk Adventures consent / information form\, which they will be sent in advance of the event. \nMaximum 10 participants – Bookings available soon (once we have confirmed that the workshop is definitely running)!

DESCRIPTION:***Date changed from 23 Sep***\n\nAll my courses will be run in accordance with Covid-19 regulations and guidance.\n\nThe FSRT course is intended for all paddlers\, coaches and volunteers irrespective of craft or discipline choice\, and is available in either bank-based or boat-based option (or a combined course covering both). It provides training on key skills needed to operate safely and deal with common emergencies in a sheltered water environment in any craft. Candidates should be competent paddling in both kayak and canoe to enable them to complete the course\, although it is not necessary formally to hold a Personal Performance Award.\n\nThe FSRT course is a pre-requisite for the British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor Award.\n\nThe FSRT course comprises a minimum of 8-hours training and is usually conducted over one long day; this course will take place in Brecon.\n\nWhile there remain restrictions on indoor gatherings\, most courses will include video-conference sessions to cover ‘classroom’ topics. These will usually be a few days before and/or after the main ‘practical’ (outdoor) sessions\, arranged to suit participants on each course. The dates shown below are for the ‘practical’ sessions only.\n\nNo minimum age (although paddlers must be physically able to undertake the course!).\n\n\n£75 each.
