Tree Felling at Dinas affecting Sychryd Gorge access NEXT WEEK

We have received the following message from Natural Resources Wales:

“Many of you will have noticed the effects of Chalara (ash dieback) on the Ash trees in Waterfall Country. Contractors working for NRW are currently working around Pont Melin Fach after completing Gwaun Hepste. In the week commencing 15th July NRW will be carrying out Ash tree work in the Dinas Rock area, felling and working on approx. 50 trees. The contractors will need to close routes for a short period of time in order to fell the trees safely, including parts of the Sychryd gorges, which are in the risk zone. The contractors will be using bankspeople to do this work and we ask that you obey them. A couple of the trees will require rope access from above, so while you may not be able to see the operation going on or reason for short delay, it may be they are seeing up for the work. This aspect will be done first thing in the morning. Exact dates at this stage are subject to change. Apologies for the inconvenience in advance.”
